Halal Kitchen Atlas respects intellectual property rights. This page explains how to notify us of alleged copyright infringement and how we handle such notices, consistent with the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent international protections.

Our commitment to copyright

We create original recipes, articles, photography, and illustrations for this site. We credit our cultural reviewers, Islamic content reviewers, photographers, and staff writers by name on every page. We license third-party content properly where we use it, and we respond to legitimate copyright complaints promptly.

If you believe content on Halal Kitchen Atlas infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA notice as described below.

Submitting a DMCA notice

Send DMCA notices in writing to our designated agent (below). Email is the fastest way to reach us; postal mail is also accepted.

What to include

A valid DMCA takedown notice must include all of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If your notice covers multiple works, a representative list is acceptable.
3. Identification of the material on our site that is claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — please include specific URLs.
4. Your contact information, including your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Notices that do not include all of these elements may not be valid under the DMCA and may not be processed.

Counter-notice procedure

If material of yours has been removed from our site as a result of a DMCA notice and you believe the removal was in error, you may submit a counter-notice. A valid counter-notice must include:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location at which it appeared before removal.
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, the courts of Rawalpindi, Pakistan).
5. A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original DMCA notice or an agent of that person.

Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, we may reinstate the material within ten to fourteen business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking a restraining order.

Repeat infringers

Where appropriate, we terminate the accounts of users we determine, in our sole discretion, to be repeat infringers.

Designated agent

False claims

Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be liable for damages. Do not submit false or bad-faith DMCA notices.
