Halal Kitchen Atlas is a website operated by the team behind Halal Kitchen Atlas, based in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to Halal Kitchen Atlas and the operators of this website. "You" and "your" refer to visitors to the website.

What personal information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Information you give us

• Newsletter subscriptions — your email address and, optionally, your first name.
• Contact form submissions — your name, email address, message content, and any category you select (correction, sponsorship, media, general).
• Correction submissions — your email address and any information you send us to support a correction.
• Comments on recipes — if we enable comments, your name, email address, and comment content. Your email is not published; your name is.

Information collected automatically

• Analytics — pages viewed, time on page, device type, browser, approximate location (country and city), referral source. We use Google Analytics 4 for this.
• Log data — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, HTTP response, user agent. Standard for any web server.
• Cookies — see the Cookie Policy for details.

Information from third parties

• Payment processors (if you purchase a premium subscription or ebook) provide us with a transaction ID and enough information to fulfill your order. We do not receive your full credit card details.
• Advertising networks may share aggregated performance data.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• Send you the newsletter you subscribed to.
• Respond to your messages and correction submissions.
• Fulfill purchases (ebooks, cookbook orders, premium subscriptions when available).
• Understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.

Children

Halal Kitchen Atlas is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

How long we keep data

• Newsletter data — kept until you unsubscribe, plus a short period for regulatory record-keeping.
• Contact form and correction submissions — kept for two years, then deleted, unless retention is required by law.
• Analytics data — retained per Google Analytics defaults (currently fourteen months for user-level and event data).
• Purchase records — kept as required by tax law in Pakistan and any relevant jurisdiction.

International data transfers

We are based in Pakistan. Our service providers (Google, Cloudflare, Beehiiv, Stripe, and others) are largely based in the United States or the European Union. When we transfer personal data across borders, we rely on the recipient's legal safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or equivalent).

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Substantive changes will be announced on this page and the "Last updated" date at the top will change. If you have subscribed to our newsletter, we will notify you of material changes by email.
